About the Course

Joan on a Zoom call with four of her students.

Are you a leader that wants to make a difference and don’t know where to begin? My job is to help you get started. Let’s talk.

I have a proven workable method to help you go from the daily struggle and self-doubt to self-confident, yet humble, leader who makes a difference at work and at home.

This is a 6-week live online course on how to be a leader that makes a difference. I call it “A Leader’s Playbook.” It’s not a recorded video that you pay for and never watch. we have all done that. Not again. I’ll be there with you the entire time. And you will be with a group of other leaders who want to make a difference. We will all meet together once a week for 2 hours. Come alone or sign up your entire team. Seasoned leaders and new leaders will benefit. ALL are welcome to come, learn, and share.

Want me to come to your workplace to teach the course in person? Please contact me here.

Writing Your Leadership Legacy Story

  • A close up of a hand holding up a spy glass which a mountain and lake is visible through

    Discover

All great leadership starts with self leadership. Creating your Leadership Legacy Story begins with a thorough look into who you really are and what you really want. You will remember stories of success and some of failures. You will answer a bunch of question to help with your self discovery.

  • A few notebooks, an iPad, and a cup of coffee scattered across a distressed wood table.

    Define

You will have completed a deep look in the past and how you want to lead in the future. This all will be compiled into your Leadership Legacy Story. We will work together to refine the draft into a unique story about where you have come from and where you want to go in the future.

    Deliver

Now it’s time to embrace where the research has taken you. Next you will share your story with your staff so they can understand you at a deeper level and most importantly know what you expect of them and what they can expect from you. This will be the beginning of a new dimension in your leadership style.

How it Works

Week 1: Meet and Greet + Influencers
We’ll get to know each other and go over group norms and expectations. We’ll also talk about all the people, places and things that made lasting impressions on your current leadership approach and style.

Week 2: Purpose
Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want to accomplish? What will be your legacy?

Week 3: Values
Let’s figure out your core values, get them down on paper and define them and how you use them in your life.

Week 4: Beliefs + Expectations
Based on the information you collected, what are your personal beliefs about leading, inspiring, and motivating yourself and others? How well does your staff know what you expect of them and what they can expect of you? Let’s figure that out together.

Week 5: Putting it All Together
We’ll compile all of your research into an anecdotal summary that I call your Leadership Legacy Story.

Week 6 (Optional Bonus Week): Practice
You’ll share your story with the group and schedule a time to share it with your staff.

About Joan

Coach Joan Kling stands and smiles at the camera.

When I started in my first leadership role, there was no one to help me deal with all of the difficulties that came my way. The transition from team member to team leader was daunting. I saw that most people came to work really wanting to do a good job and looked to me for help in making that happen. But I didn’t know how. So I fumbled and guessed my way through for many years. And like many new leaders, I struggled in silence and didn’t ask for help.

It was out of sheer desperation after a really bad day at work that made me seek help. For me that turned out to be a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego. That started my self-imposed quest to figure out how to assist those who wanted to improve to be the best they could be. After more than 15 years of studying leadership and leading teams, I want to pass my learnings onto you.

Oh, yeah, I’m from Philly and second to the youngest in a family of seven children, so I bring a wit and a sense of humor. Ya gotta have a sense of humor to survive in this crazy business.
